Leigh Pond , 78, of Ashton, Idaho, and formerly of Rexburg, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home with her family on June 2, 2021. Leigh and her twin brother Bill were born February 21, 1943, in New Haven Connecticut. They were adopted shortly after birth by their parents Harold and Mable (Meeker) Dow.
Leigh lived in Connecticut until she converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and then moved to Provo, Utah where she met her love Glen Smith Pond. They were married in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple and were blessed with 5 children and raised them in Rexburg Idaho.
Leigh enjoyed serving the church in many callings. She and Glen went on to serve an 18 month mission in Maputo Mozambique, Africa where she grew to love the people and the country. For the past 20 years she enjoyed making a new home in Ashton, on the Ashton Reservoir, where they could spend time on the water with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Glen Pond; children Karen Pond (Max), Justin Pond (Jennifer), Kathryn Stark (Shane), Alison Pickett (Brad), and Lindsay Gray (Kyle); their 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law Karen Dow. She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Mable (Meeker) Dow and her twin brother William R Dow.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, at the Ashton Pineview Cemetery, 3600 East 1300 North, with Blake Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton. Condolences may be sent online to the family at www.baxterfh.com.
