Lee 'Roy' Wilcox III, Age 73, of Braselton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025.
Roy was born on April 14, 1952, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to the late Lee Roy Wilcox Jr. and Helen Josephine Sanders Wilcox. Growing up in a Marine Corps family, he moved often, but everywhere he went he carried with him a love for people, a quick wit, and a gift for making others laugh. He graduated from Beaufort High School in South Carolina and went on to earn a degree in History from Valdosta State University.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol 'Lynn' Hensley Wilcox, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage this past June. He is also survived by his children, Jeremy Wilcox (Cailey), Matthew Wilcox (Jenny), and Erin Wilcox Hansen (Alex); his grandchildren Brooklyn and Carter, Harper and Lucas; his brother, Kenneth Wilcox; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who cherished him.
Roy retired from Delta Airlines after a long and dedicated career. Outside of work, he lived a life rich with music, creativity, and community. He sang joyfully in the choir at Eastwood Baptist Church, often sharing solos that lifted the hearts of everyone who heard him. In earlier years, he played guitar, coached and played softball, and proudly played football in high school. He loved movies-especially old westerns and Disney classics-and could name nearly every actor on the screen. He also had a natural artistic gift, enjoying painting and drawing throughout his life.
What Roy will be remembered for most, though, is his humor and his stories. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into laughter, and he kept his children, family, and friends smiling with his quick wit and endless tales from family life. To know him was to love him, and to be around him was to laugh.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Scot Ward Funeral Services in Conyers, Georgia. Visitation will take place from 12:00-1:00 p.m., with the funeral beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Though he is deeply missed, Roy's laughter, love, and stories will continue to echo in the hearts of his family and friends.
Condolences may be submitted online at www.scotward.com. Scot Ward Funeral Services, 699 American Legion Rd., Conyers, GA, 770-483-7216.
