Lawrence Eugene Murdock, 80, of Dean passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
Lawrence was born on January 24, 1942 to the late Harold and Ada (Riggle) Murdock in Galesburg, Illinois. He graduated from Galesburg High School, where he excelled in sports and set many school records in track and field. Lawrence furthered his education by receiving his Bachelor's degree at Knox College and later, he received his Masters degree at New Mexico State.
Lawrence worked in the aerospace industry in many areas in the United States. He was noted for working on many different systems including: the Apache Helicopter, the B-2 bomber and the latest F-35 Lightening jet. After he retired, he moved to Texas to be closer to his family and was able to spend time with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Larry was a former chairman of the Clay County Senior Citizens Center and delivered meals on wheels.
At the end of his life on earth, he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren and passed away peacefully. He always took care of his family and he will be missed by many family and friends.
Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Lundquist.
He is survived by his children, Amy Raymond, Lisa Wright and husband, Jerrell and Todd Murdock and wife, Holly; five grandchildren: Kristin Clark and husband, Chris, Justin Raymond and wife, Beth, Ashley Parker and husband, Steven, Kyle Wright and wife, Cassie and Carsen Murdock; and six great-grandchildren: Ethan, Riley, Addison, Eli, Kristine, and Jackson.
A service will be held at a later date.
