Lawrence Joseph Germain, 85, beloved husband of Sheila J. Germain, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on August 10, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph and Loretta Germain. He had resided in Meriden all of his life and had graduated from Meriden High School.
Mr. Germain owned and operated J & L Paint Company prior to retiring in 2008. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army for two years in peacetime Germany. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He was the Vice President of the Mt. Carmel HSA and a member of The American Legion. He loved family gatherings and celebrating in the company of friends. Larry loved to travel with his wife but most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Sheila of 61 years, he is survived by his daughter, Tamie Germain-Lis; his son, Joe Germain and his wife Veronica; three grandchildren, Breanna Craft, Ryan Lis, and Destiny Germain; two great-grandchildren, Alivia and Lilliana and his two sisters, Elaine Pfeiffer and Evelyn Herren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Martowski.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Thursday, July 29th at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels, Mt. Carmel Campus for a Mass of Christian Burial. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
