Lawrence "Larry" Campbell, 75, of Nahant, MA, passed away on July 6, 2022, at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, after recently being diagnosed with lung cancer.
Born in Lynn MA, on July 30, 1946, he was the son of the late James Frank and Alice (MacGregor) Campbell.
He graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1963 and attended Salem State College.
During the Vietnam War, he served the United States Army, where he was awarded several medals for his tour of duty.
Larry worked for the United States Customs and Border Protection Service in Boston, which he loved, and where he still has many colleagues and friends.
He was a friend of Bill W. for thirty years.
Larry had a passion for history and had extensive knowledge of the Civil War. After retirement, he was active with the Grand Army of The Republic (GAR) Civil War Museum in Lynn, MA.
Larry was kind, loyal, and generous to all. His hilarious sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met. He loved the ocean and the beaches of the North Shore. An avid traveler, he enjoyed many wonderful trips with his life companion of twenty-four years, Mary Pare.
Family members include his brother, John "Jack" Campbell; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Bette Goldberg; and brothers, James and Roy.
Services: Burial with military honors will take place Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 1 PM, in New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
Memorial donations may be made to Grand Army of The Republic (GAR) Civil War Museum, 58 Andrew St, Lynn, MA 01901.
