LAWRENCE ADKINSON, Laurence Joseph Adkinson Sr, 83, of Jacksonville FL passed peacefully on the afternoon of November 29th at Community Hospice in Baptist Downtown Hospital. Larry (as his family and friends called him) was raised in Toledo Ohio, and attended Central Catholic High School and the University of Toledo. He enlisted with the air force reserves to follow in his oldest brother Chuck's footsteps where he served as a flight navigator during peace time in the 1950s/60s. Larry later graduated from Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland. He was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame Football and the Toledo Mudhens. Larry was a devout Catholic, actively involved in the parishes of St Brendan's in Ohio earlier, and since 1998 St Joseph's in Jacksonville. He loved trains and spent much time when he was younger with his scale models. He proudly earned the rank of Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Larry was the youngest son of a large family and is predeceased by his parents Charles and Louise; brothers Chuck, Jimmy, and Jerry; and his sisters Patty, Gloria, and Mary Lou; and other dearly loved such as Paul and Danny. Larry is survived by his loving wife Laura, sister Judy, his children (who called him Papajack) Laurence Jr, Melissa, and Charles, his daughter-in-law Crystal, and was Papa to his two beloved granddaughters Kadence and Hazel. Many thanks from the family are given to Community Hospice in the Douglas center at Baptist downtown for their caring and compassion in his final days and hours. The Family will be celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 18th at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 11757 Old St Augustine Rd #2001, Jacksonville, FL 32258 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts to the Divine Mercy House of Jacksonville or the Mandarin Food Bank may be made in his name.
