LaVonne was born June 10, 1928 in Wellsville, Cache County, Utah. To William Smith Bailey and Lylas Clawson Bailey. She was their only daughter. She graduated from South Cache High School in 1945 at the age of 16 and went on to attend Utah State Agricultural College, now Utah State University. While attending college she was involved in the ROTC Sponsor Corp Program and the Kappa Delta Sorority and served as sophomore class secretary.
During her first year at Utah State she met a very special handsome young man from Ashton Idaho named Richard J Clark. After a four year courtship due to his military service and college they were married on June 13, 1949. Their home was in Ashton from then until November of 2013 when they moved to Idaho Falls.
LaVonne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities in the Church Ward and Stake Relief Society, Primary, Sunday School, and a scribe for her husband while he was serving as Stake Patriarch. They also served in the Ashton Family history center and as Ward Dance Directors. LaVonne served as the Ward Historian and prepared history records and pictures.
She loved sewing, gardening, record-keeping, cooking, and traveling.
Following 69 years of marriage, her husband Richard passed away in July of 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents and youngest brother Paul.
She remained in her home one more year and then moved to Fairwinds Independent Living where she made and enjoyed many new friendships.
LaVonne passed away on February 8, 2024. She is survived by her four children Bruce (Glenys), Carolyn Christesen (Robert), Janice Walker, LuAnne Fowler (Monty), 15 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and her brother Steve (Lynda) Bailey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Sutter Ward Chapel, 1925 East 49th South, Idaho Falls, Idaho, 83404. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
