LaVita Faye Chandler was born July 13, 1958, in Memphis, TN. She was summoned to her Heavenly Home on January 22, 2018.
LaVita Faye was born and raised in the Beltline Community. She accepted Christ as her Heavenly Father at an early age, as a member of the Greater Hope Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend L.C. Moore. As an adult, she was led to join The Church of Good Fellowship, under the leadership of the late Reverend Elizabeth Toles.
LaVita attended Hanley Elementary, Fairview Jr. High, and ultimately graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1976. While at Ridgeway, at the age of 15, she met Vincent Darryl Chandler. The then 15-year-old asked her to braid his afro for basketball tryouts, as she waited to try out for cheerleading. Although neither one made their respective teams, the blessing was they found each other; they were together ever since! On July 26, 1977, at the home of her childhood, LaVita married Vincent; the man of her literal dreams. To this union, two daughters were created; Shaquorya Montrice and Minishia Marquesa.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in LaVita Chandler's name to the Dementia Society of America.
