LaVerne Janice Sack passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the age of 74 at her home in Myrtle Beach, SC.
LaVerne is survived by her husband of 27 years, Stephen Lenart, and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary (Zwolinsky) Sack, and sisters Doris Carstens and Arlene Santo Salvo.
She received a Bachelors degree from Montclair State University in 1968, and took graduate courses at Rutgers University. She briefly taught high school biology prior to joining Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS). She had a distinguished 28 year career at BMS in Quality Assurance and in both US and International Regulatory Affairs. She was a member of the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS). After retiring in 2004, she and her husband moved from Princeton, New Jersey, to Myrtle Beach, SC.
She loved to travel with her husband and visited many countries and states during their travels. She also loved to collect marbles and porcelain boxes, bird watch, dance, read, ski, play cards and attend the ballet with her friends. She was the sponsor to a young girl in Guatemala which gave her much joy. LaVerne was known and will be remembered for her warm smile, sense of humor, kindness, generosity and loving spirit. She will be missed by those who had the honor of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Wrightstown, NJ and at St. Andrews Catholic Church, in Myrtle Beach, SC (where she is a member), both at later date.
