Laurencio Marquez Ortiz, age 88, of Odessa, TX passed from this life on Sunday, June 27, 2021. He was born on Monday, November 14, 1932 in Escobillas Chihuahua, Mexico to Sahara Marquez and Heriberto Ortiz.
Laurencio was a hard working man who enjoyed gardening and loved animals. He loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings. He always had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. Laurencio enjoyed going to Bible study and was strong in his faith.
Those left to cherish his love and memories are his daughters: Teresa Suarez, Irma Luisa Ortiz, and Irma Belinda Torres and husband Miguel, all of Odessa; brother: Jesus Maria Ortiz and wife Oralia of Guachochi, Mexico; sisters: Constancia Ortiz del Bosquez, of Presidio, TX and Genoveva Ortiz Alcantar, Odessa, TX; grandchildren: Jennifer and Robert Salazar, Denise and Ricky Anderson, Ruben Suarez, Miguel and Esmeralda Castillo Jr., Luis and Sonia Castillo, Joshua and Rebekah Valenzuela, Karina Torres, Toby Torres, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Patricia Jimenez Ortiz; his parents: Sahara Marquez and Heriberto Ortiz; step-mother: Petra; children: Velma, Rosalva and Laurencio Martin Jr; and siblings: Leonardo Ortiz, Dominga Cortez and Guadalupe Minjarez.
Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 9 AM, Friday, July 2, 2021.
Funeral services will be 1 PM, Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the 24 hour chapel at Acres West Funeral Chapel officiated by Pastor Albert Flores from Victory Life Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Miguel Castillo Jr., Luis Castillo, Ruben Suarez, Joshua Valenzuela and Erasmo Hernandez.
A special thank you to Erasmo Hernandez, whom he considered a son, who unconditionally was there for him and supported him in his final days. Another special thanks goes out to Home Hospice and to his Nurses Lisa, Aida and Angela and to those who helped and comforted both Laurencio and our family during his final months. We will forever be grateful.
