Laura Lee Gent, 38, of Corryton, TN went to take her place as a heavenly angel on Sunday, January 23. Even though she couldn't walk or talk, she made a big impact on the world with her sweet smile and her love of making others happy.
Laura was born on July 8, 1983, to William and Ruth Gent in Parkersburg, WV. She was diagnosed with a developmental disability early in her life and faced both blessings and challenges over the years. She fought those challenges bravely, with a strong heart and the unwavering devotion of her parents.
Everyone who knew Laura loved her and she was her family's best blessing. Her needs were simple and small things in life made her happy. Laura loved music, especially her guitar and music box. She also had little games she loved to play and special toys she treasured.
Laura graduated from Rutledge High School in 2005. She had many special friends and caregivers during her time on Earth.
She is survived by her father, William Vernon Gent; mother, Ruth Anne Gent (Formerly Trippett); brother, Matthew Gent and his wife Amanda; sister, Jenny Williamson and her husband Martin; 5 nephews, Eli Gent, Camdyn Gent, Liam Williamson, Nate Williamson, and Tom Williamson; beloved uncle, Ronnie Trippett; special aunt, Pauline Lewisand several other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Laura was blessed with a special aunt, Pam Wilson, and treasured friends Wesley Singleton and Benjamin Malkey, who were always there when she needed them.
Laura was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clarence and Anna Trippett; paternal grandparents, James and Anna Gent; uncle Jim Trippett and her aunt Debbie Hitt.
Laura was loved dearly and will be sorely missed until we meet again in heaven.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
