"Larry B Simmers, 84, formerly of Midland, now McKinney, Texas passed away on Sunday October 10, 2021.
Larry was born in Pomona, California on November 28, 1936 to the late Augustus Hopson and Bernie Ola Simmers. He graduated from Pomona high school and continued on to receive his masters degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from California Polytechnic State University. He and his wife Jacki were married June 16, 1962 and were married for 50 years. He moved from California to Midland in 1977 and worked as an engineer for Sergeant Industries and then later Highland Pump Company until he retired. He loved taking an old car, rebuilding it, then entering it in car shows. He also loved making horseshoe art in support of a local horse sanctuary. He is survived by his daughter Wendi Simmers, his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Janet Simmers, his grandsons Dane Simmers, Tristan Simmers, Taylor Mccarty, and Justin Mccarty. He is preceded in death by his wife Jacki Simmers. His son and grandsons will be his pallbearers. Professional services conducted by Ellis Funeral Home. A public visitation will be Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy, Midland. Graveside service will be 9:00am, Friday, October 15, 2021 at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 N Big Spring St., Midland. Classic cars are encouraged.
