Larry Ralph Johnson, a man of exceptional intelligence, courage, and love, left this world on November 21, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on April 13, 1947, in Nashville, Tennessee, Larry's journey brought immense joy and inspiration to those around him. He passed away peacefully in Marlow, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of his family. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Marlow, with Rev. Joe Ligon officiating. Burial will follow at the EastView Memorial Cemetery in Vernon, TX, all arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services. Viewing will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow between the hours of 12:00 PM- 8:30 PM, with a family visitation scheduled between the hours of 5:30 PM- 6:30 PM. Larry's life was marked by a steadfast commitment to his family, his country, and his community. He is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda Johnson, who was his rock and partner in all of life's adventures. Together, they raised a family of strong values and deep bonds, including their sons Bobby Johnson and wife Joy of Johnston, Iowa, Larry (LJ) Johnson and wife Angela of Marlow, and George (GT) Austin and wife Eleisha of Marlow; their daughter, Lori McGuire of Marlow; and their precious grandchildren, McKenna, Jack, Kylee, Nolan, Hadley, McCayn, Elly, Kimber, Axton, and Brilyn. Larry's sister, Nelda Schereck and her husband Ralph of Carrollton, TX; brother-in-laws, David Lynch and Vicki of Duncan, Terry Boyd of Wichita Falls, TX; and sister-in-law, Marva Butler and Paul of Peoria, AZ, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive him. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Joslin and Pearl Faye (Hudgens) Johnson; his brother, Jimmy Wayne Hudgens; his daughter, Crystal Johnson; his grandson, Robert Gage Johnson; and his brother-in-law, Bruce Boyd. After earning an associate's degree, Larry dedicated many years to law enforcement as a detective at the Lawton Police Department and the Comanche County Sheriff's Department. He retired as a captain of the Lawton Police Department and was a proud graduate of the FBI Academy. His military service was equally distinguished, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant in the Army. During his time in the Army, Larry worked in Iraq for three years establishing and training police units for the Department of Defense. Larry also worked for the United States Marshall's Service flying Con-Air. Beyond his professional achievements, Larry was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, the Fraternal Order of Police, the First Baptist Church, and the Lawton Rangers. He cherished moments spent with his children, indulging in his passion for reading, particularly old war books, and enjoying the great outdoors. Larry's presence was a comfort to many, whether he was sharing stories or simply sitting on the front porch in quiet reflection. Larry Ralph Johnson's legacy is one of unwavering love, service, and integrity. His life's story will continue to be told through the lives he touched and the memories cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will forever remain a guiding light for his family and friends. Pallbearers will be: Brandon Burchfield, John Smith, Ryan Blundell, Clay Coast, Brandon Crawford, and Jared Toumbs.
