Larry Joe Hall, 65, of Zionsville, IN, passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family on January 25, 2020. He was born on June 5, 1954 in Indianapolis and grew up in Carmel, IN.
Larry was a 1972 graduate of Carmel High School. He attended Ball State University working on an Art degree and enjoyed spending his free time as a singer and guitar player in the rock band Flite during his college years.
Larry married Deb on March 24, 1979 (They had met doing backstage crew for children's theatre at Carmel High School). He was a gifted mechanic and could repair any older model car engine or small motor. He was affectionately known around Zionsville as "The Lawnmower Guy". He was involved with a variety of careers over the years. He managed C & E Rental and Akards True Value Hardware - Rental Department. Additionally, he enjoyed a few years helping to provide meats and seafood along with his great cooking advice at the Marsh meat counter.
Besides his love for his children, wife, family and friends, the love of his career life was the opportunity to be Building Supervisor at Stonegate Elementary School in Zionsville from its opening through the summer of 2009. He relished the opportunity to quietly and thoroughly take care of the students and staff along with the building and grounds. He even added a few perks with a monthly Cartoon Friday for the students during lunch and Larry Luncheon with his delicious meals for the staff. He also spent a few years as Building Supervisor of Mohawk Trails Elementary in Carmel.
Larry cherished and loved time with his children, attending every activity and athletic event possible. He also strived to provide numerous fun and athletic activities for Kyle, Katie and friends. Along with always having a wonderful home cooked dinner ready for his wife every night, he loved to share his culinary treats with neighbors, along with popsicles and ice cream treats for the neighborhood children.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Margaret (Betty) and William Hall and brothers-in-law Michael Blankenship and Jackie Ferguson.
Larry is survived by those he loved dearly and who dearly loved him: his wife of 40 years Deb (Freeman) Hall; son, Kyle Hall (Ashlea Bedell); daughter, Katie Reiter (Dane); grandsons Dylan and Drake Reiter; sister, Judy Blankenship; nieces, Pam (Blankenship) Miller (Tim) and Alicia Blankenship (Thomas Witman); nephew, Stephen Blankenship (Sara).
