LaNora "Mike" Wellock
Did you know LaNora "Mike"? Please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, left us to be with our Lord March 8th, 2025. Born LaNora Ann Wellock in Eureka CA January 11, 1939, she lost her mother Pearl at a young age.
Her father George, remarried (Vi) and moved to Billings, Montana not long after and there she was raised. Growing up in rural Billings she loved horses, learned trick riding, performed in numerous rodeos, was a rodeo queen and performed in the Billings Mounted Quadrille club.
Her next season of life involved marriages, raising 10 children, joined the Montana Republican National Committee, raced stock cars in Powder Puff derbys AND THEN SHE FOUND HER TRUE LOVE...DONKEYS!
Her new love took her back to her youth and love of animals. So began her Mule Skinner Days. She traveled around showing her mules, performing bridleless exhibitions, teaching relationships with mules and competing in Team Penning events.
Her love of all things MULES led her to create her own business, MuleLadys Stable.
But her final season was about family and those 17 wonderful Grandkids and 30 beautiful Great Grandkids. Her greatest regret was not living long enough to see the Great Great Grands.
In the end the Lord sent her mules, saddled up, raring to go and took her up to heaven.
It's not good bye... see ya later Mama!
The family will be having a Celebration of Life in early July, 2025 at her home in Ennis, Montana.
Dokken Nelson Funeral Service will be making final preparations for "Mike" born LaNora Ann Wellock.
In lieu of flowers she asked to consider making a contribution for her favorite critters at www.donkeyrescue.org OR www.turningpointdonkeyrescue.org
Again thank you all so very much for your prayers, memories and love.
