Lani I. Austin 75, passed away on September 29, 2022, at Yakima Memorial. She was born on June 16, 1947, in Seattle, WA. She was adopted as an infant by Ron and Mary (Holbrook) Row. She considered herself very fortunate to have been chosen by such loving parents.
Growing up the family spent time camping and stays at Ocean Crest Resort and the Moclips Motel. She and her mom would spend hours beach combing looking for the special shell, piece of driftwood or glass float. Lani enjoyed her time at the Flying Horseshoe ranch taking care of her own horse. She and her brother enjoyed skiing during the winter and when summer cam back around she enjoyed being anywhere near water.
Lani was raised on Clyde Hill in Seattle. She attended Clyde Hill Elementary s, Chinook Junior High, and Bellevue High School, graduating in 1965. Following high school, Lani moved to Ellensburg to attend Central Washington University. Lani decided to leave central to attend business college.
While attending school she met and married Dan Austin on June 17, 1966. Together they had one daughter. Daughter Tracy and granddaughter Kaila were Lani's pride & joy.
Lani enjoyed a very successful career working for Kenworth trucking in Kirkland. Following her retirement, she and Dan enjoyed living full time in Cle Elum. She spent time golfing, playing bunco, taco Tuesdays and getting together with neighbors.
Lani and Dan enjoyed building their home in Cle Elum, riding snowmobiles, travelling to Mexico, trips in the RV, meeting new friends and entertaining friends in their Cle Elum home.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her two girls, together they enjoyed "girls' night" while she was in their area. She and Tracy loved to attend an occasional concert and spend time in Cabo at their condominium.
Lani has an infectious laugh that will never be forgotten. She loved life, family, and friends. Gone too soon but never forgotten.
