LaFaye Sue Hamm, 80, of Greenfield, IN, passed away on July 20, 2022. She was known as Mams to all the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and to all of their friends. Everyone was welcome at her home and she always made them feel like family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Sue wished to be cremated. Arrangements are by Moster Mortuary, Rushville, IN.
Sue was born in Greencastle, IN to Robert Manis and Imogene Manis on December 26, 1941. She married Clifford Leon Hamm on September 29, 1960 in Marion County, IN. She worked as a beautician for most of her adult life both at home and in shops she owned. She raced at the Speedrome on Kitley in Indianapolis alongside her husband and was the powder puff champion in 1965. She was an avid gardener and a golfer, belonging to the Idlewold Ladies League in Pendleton, for many years. She completed courses to become a master gardener through the Purdue extension in Hancock County. She loved crafts, sewing, and painting and worked at Michael's craft store for many years.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford. She passed on his birthday so they could continue their 61-year love story. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Imogene Manis, and her sister Veronica.
Sue is survived by children Tyanna Messer (Tim Messer) and Curtis Hamm, siblings Butch Manis, Charles Manis, Regina Collette, Beverly Whiteman, and Sharon Vance, grandchildren Nicole Doty (Zach Doty) and James Hodges III, great grandchildren Jaxon Elijah Hodges and Lane Everett Doty.
