LaFawn was born in a log cabin in Gunsight, Texas on May 25,1917. The family moved to Dallas when she was 7 years old so she could attend school. She graduated from Sunset High School with honors in 1934. LaFawn was a survivor who overcame many adversities, including her home being completely destroyed by the 1933 Oak Cliff tornado. The Great Depression, the death of two daughters, ovarian and breast cancer and lived to be over 104 years of age. She died on December 22,2021.
LaFawn took many trips from coast to coast and lived life with excitement.
She will always be remembered for her sweet, kind, gentle manner, always smiling and positive, and never complaining. She enjoyed gardening and especially proud of her Iris flowers.
LaFawn was preceded in death by parents, Zena Watson and William Albert Thorp, husband of 50 years, James Kendrick Henry Thompson, infant, Eleanor Ann, daughter Linda Sheree O'Dell at age 52. Son- in- law Tilmon Ray Bevill and Gilbert, Charles Ledyard, Jr.
Survived by daughters Barbara Lynn Bevill, Dolores Ledyard, son- in- law Glenn O'Dell, grandchildren Patsy Bevill, Kim Cotten, Christina and husband, Vincent Mancini, Jennifer O'Dell, three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Monticello West Assisted Living for caring for LaFawn for 5 years and Holding Hands Hospice during the past year.
Visitation is at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday December 28,2021 at Laurel Land Funeral Home Dallas with burial to follow at 2 P.M.
