L. Lewis Simerly

L. Lewis Simerly passed away on February 2, 2025, at the age of 85. Lewis was born in Maryville, TN on January 26, 1940. He played a part in bringing karate to Maryville and was a karate instructor with a 4th Degree Black Belt. Lewis was a Mountain Challenge Instructor at Maryville College and a yoga instructor. He was also a member of Civil Air Patrol and Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. Lewis was an avid bicyclist, riding from Maryville to Myrtle Beach and across the state of Tennessee. He was a beloved member of the community, known for his humor, generosity, and compassion for others. Lewis is preceded in death by his beloved wife Teresa, children Greg Simerly and Sherri Simerly, parents Harvey and Mabel Simerly, brother Don Simerly, and great-nephew Justin. He is survived by his brother David (Frances) Simerly, grandchildren Haley (Jesse) Everett and Chris (Michelle) Large, great-grandchildren Audrey, Silas, and Eloise, nephew Robbie Simerly.
