L. Bryce Whitson, Jr., 38, of Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of New Albany, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 after a three year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Bryce was born on February 16, 1982 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late L. Bryce and Sharon Hartman Whitson.
He received his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue in 2009, and was a former employee of Naval Surface Warfare Center until he started his dream job with Hendrick Motorsports. His hobbies include running triathlons where he completed both Ironman 70.3 and Ironman 140.6 in Louisville, Kentucky and the Mag 7 Series in Bloomington, Indiana. He also enjoyed simulation racing through the iRacing platform and volunteered as a Big Brother.
In addition to his parents, Bryce was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Whitson, Greg Whitson and Jimmy Hartman.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Keeton Whitson who he married on July 18, 2009. Bryce is also survived by his brothers, Gerry Whitson and Tony Hartman; a sister, Missy Bloomer; three nephews, Brent, Bryan and Gary Whitson and a niece, Kasey Boswell.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the funeral home. Funeral Ceremonies will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/kraftfuneral. Burial will follow in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
