Klementyna L. Bryte passed away on Sunday, August 8. Klemie was born in Baltimore on March 27, 1947, to Philomena Lewandowski and was later adopted by Philomena's husband Wayne Bryte. Klemie graduated from St. John's High School in Westminster and then earned a BA in English from the University of Maryland, College Park. She married Larry Dawson in 1972; they divorced in 1982.Klemie worked as a Baltimore City social worker and as a proofreader and editor for the Baltimore Gay Paper and Waverly Press/Williams & Wilkins before relocating to Marathon, Texas. Klemie was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her longtime partner Tom Lehr of Marathon; her sister Leesa Zeiler of Marathon; brother W. Hollis Bryte of Blountville, TN; brother Mark Bryte and wife Michelle of Piney Flats, TN; nieces Cassandra Davis and Ariahna Bryte; and nephews Mark Bryte, Michel Conaway, and Matthew Bryte. Memorial services will be held at a later time. Remembrances may be shared at www.acreswestfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in her name to animal rescue organizations or those assisting Native Americans.
