Kimberly L. Casler, age 44, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2019, after a long struggle with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
She was born March 23, 1975, in Rome, a daughter of Patricia Wilder Plopper and step daughter of Fremont Plopper. Kimberly was united in marriage to Shawn M. Casler, on July 31, 1999, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. She graduated from Morrisville State College, where she received an A.A.S. in Business Administration, in 1995. She continued her education at SUNY Poly (formerly SUNYIT) where she received a B.B.A. in Business Administration in 1997.
She was a contractor at the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory-Information Directorate Facilities in Rome, for Richard Linderman and Emily Krzysiak for 12 years. Also, in her career history, she worked at MGS Group in Rome. She was a member of Lee American Legion, Post #1794, Lee Center. Also was a huge New York Ranger fan and loved having her many friends over.
Kimberly is survived by her loving husband, Shawn; and son, Jonathan; parents, Patricia and Fremont; sister and brother in law, Catherine and Kurt Nordman; father in law and mother in law, Robert J. and Janis Casler; step brother, Ryan Plopper and his fiancee, Jessica Northrup; brothers in law, and sisters in law, Robert J. Jr., and Stephanie Casler, Julie and Peter Sestito; step grandmother, Norma Plopper; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great niece and nephews; and close friends, Billy Baker, Cindy Revak and Brian and Erica Johnson.
Kimberly would like to say a special thank you to all the staff at Hematology-Oncology Associates of CNY (HOA) in Brittenfield, from the nurses to the doctors. They were all loving and caring individuals, especially Dr. Cherny, and his secretary, Ruth. She also would like to mention Linda Lyon at Rome Hospital, who started her Cancer journey on the right path, and always took time to see her when ever needed. Kimberly's Cancer journey was a long and hard fight.
"Without the people above, and the love and care from my husband, Shawn, and son, Jonathan, it would have been a much harder fight---thank you--- Kimberly"
