Kevin M. Hruniuk, 53, of Brandonville died May 17 at his home in the loving care of his wife and family following a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Lawrence Hruniuk; and Anna Marie (Labuda) Hruniuk, who currently resides in Sheppton.
Kevin was a quiet, patient, dependable man with a heart of gold. Kevin was a well-respected employee by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, where he worked as a material specialist supervisor. He had a true love for his community, which led him to be an active member of the Sheppton-Onedia Volunteer Fire Company for close to 40 years. He served as both the treasurer and as the assistant fire chief.
He was also an active member of the Hazleton-English Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, where he preached to their community on a weekly basis.
Kevin loved vanilla milkshakes and never passed up an opportunity to indulge in baked goods. He was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest. Kevin loved spending time with his family and friends, but he also took advantage of those quiet moments he spent outdoors hunting and fishing. His enjoyment did not stop there, he had a great love for trains, specifically the steam trains.
