Kenneth V. Simonis (Ken), age 74, of Gatlinburg passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
Ken was born February 7, 1950 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Dennis and Florence (Burant) Simonis. Ken married Diann Barker on December 2, 1972. Ken graduated from Christian Brothers University in Memphis and began a career in banking. Ken enjoyed working in banking and retired after 43 years. He was a Past President of the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce and the Gatlinburg Rotary Club. Ken loved UT sports and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his coffee buddies.
He is survived by his wife Diann; 3 sons: John (Keri), Petoskey, MI; Barrett (Betsy), Knoxville, TN; Michael (Gigi), Gatlinburg, TN; 8 grandchildren: Jordan, Sarah, Lucy, Barrett II, Andrew, Thomas, Reagan, and Sidney. 2 brothers: Karl (Anne Foley), Lancaster, PA and Mark (Christina), Wellsboro, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Denny.
A memorial in lieu of flowers can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church (304 Airport Road, Gatlinburg TN 37738) or Friends of the Smokies (P.O. Box 1660, Kodak TN 37764).
Family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4:30 on Monday September 23, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gatlinburg followed by a Funeral Mass at 5:00 PM. Very Rev. David Boettner and Rev. Pontian Kiyimba will con-celebrate the services. Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at Tudor Cemetery in Gatlinburg. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home.
