KENNETH B. MUNSEY age 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday June 19, 2021 at his winter home on Marco Island. He was born in Washington D.C. on May 13, 1936. The son of Virdell Everard and Mildred Wood Munsey and brother to Virdell E. Munsey, Jr. and Eleanor Munsey Clark.
He graduated from Wilson High School and American University in Washington D.C. While attending American University he was the Captain of the Tennis Team, a member of Alpha Tau Omega, as well as Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Fraternity and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Ken was an Eagle Scout who loved being out in nature and enjoyed playing all types of sports as a youngster. He was a Mason, Shriner and member of the 32? Scottish Rite, past President of the Sudbury Rotary Club and former Reserve Deputy Sherriff of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Middlesex Sheriff's Office. He was also involved in many patriotic organizations including Society of Descendants of Colonial Governors and Society of Mayflower Descendants. Trinitarian Congregational Church of Wayland, MA was his home church for forty-seven years.
He began his professional career with Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation as a part of their sales team and advanced to become a federal government sales representative.
In 1974, after relocating with his family to Sudbury, Massachusetts, he assumed the ownership of the Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland, Massachusetts. With the joint effort of himself and his wife, he focused on the transformation of the golf course and clubhouse to what it is today, a beautiful property and successful business. Because of the efforts put forth, he created the opportunity for his children and grandchildren to carry on his legacy. Not only was he the Manager of Golf Course Operations, but he was also a passionate golfer himself and was a member of the Brae Burn Country Club in Newton, MA and the Island Country Club of Marco Island, FL for many years and recorded a hole-in-one at each course.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Janette, his daughter Deborah M. Cibotti (Benjamin R Cibotti, Jr.) his son Kenneth R. Munsey (Karen Y. Munsey) and grandchildren, Benjamin Cibotti III, Christine Cibotti, Matthew Munsey and Katharine Munsey. Ken was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
