Kenneth Michael Humphreys, 74, a resident of the Wachusett Manor, 32 Hospital Road, passed peacefully following a period of declining health on the morning of March 23, 2021.
A native of New York, NY, he was born on August 6, 1945 to Helen (Wesolowski) and William Humphreys. Kenneth was educated in NYC Public Schools, furthering his education by attending New York Military Academy @ Cornwall on the Hudson from 1959 until his graduation in 1963. While at NYMA, as a Cadet he rose to the rank of 1st Lt. and was second in command of Company D.
Following his graduation, he enrolled in the University of Alaska, where his focus was in Anthropology. During this time, he participated as an exchange student and attended the University of Sidney, in Sidney, Australia. Kenneth graduated in 1970 from the University of Alaska, with a BS in Anthropology. While an undergraduate, he was active in the Varsity Rifle, Pistol and Water Polo teams and was Vice President of the Student Body.
During his time in Alaska, Kenneth served honorably with the Alaskan Army National Guard, as a member of the 910 Combat Engineers, 297th Infantry Regiment and attained the rank of Master Sergeant.
Kenneth was employed for 28 years, by the advertising agency of Towne, Silverstein and Rotter, in NYC. Later, he was a member of the faculty at the Hampshire Educational Collaborative in Northampton, MA, where he taught history and other courses from 1999-2009. Additionally, he was employed by the Whole Foods Market in Hadley, MA from 2006-2009.
In his leisure, Kenneth enjoyed rock hounding, scuba diving, model aircraft as hobbies and pastimes. He is lovingly remembered by his cousin, Sheila Joan Edward and her husband Louis, his niece Stephanie Janicedottir Conrod, as well as his great nieces Gwen and Astrid Conrod.
In keeping with Kenneth's wishes for simplicity, there will be no formal services. Expressions of one's affection are encouraged in the form of a charitable contribution in his memory to the charity of one's choice.
