Kenneth J. Dugal, 70, died peacefully on November 25, 2022, surrounded by family.
Born in Fall River, Massachusetts on May 3, 1952, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jeanette (Matte) Dugal. Kenneth graduated from Joseph Case High School in Swansea, MA in 1970. He began playing piano professionally as a teenager, going on to earn a bachelor's and master's degree in Music Education from UMass Lowell.
Kenneth was a dedicated public school music teacher for 42 years at Merrimack High School in NH. He loved teaching and influenced the lives of many during his career. In 2009, he was awarded New Hampshire Music Educator of the Year. An ardent promoter of labor unions, Ken held numerous executive board positions in the Merrimack Teachers Association in service to his colleagues. He was a passionate supporter of arts education.
Ken had a keen interest in his French-Canadian roots and was a member of Club Richelieu, the Franco-American Centre of NH and numerous French conversation groups. An amateur genealogist for 30 years, Kenneth was a member of numerous associations and completed extensive research on his family history dating back to the 1500s. He and his wife Eileen traveled to their ancestral towns in Europe and met distant cousins for the first time.
Ken was an avid cyclist and enjoyed planning bicycling trips throughout the Northeast, always stopping for ice cream along the way.
Above all else, Ken was devoted to his family, a loving husband and proud father. He will especially be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, always keeping his family, friends and colleagues laughing.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eileen (Flynn) Dugal; his son, Patrick F. Dugal; his daughter, Colleen F. Dugal and her husband Jonathan Sneider, as well as loving family from the Fall River, MA area.
Services: A memorial will be held on Wednesday, December 7 at Rivet Funeral Home in Merrimack, NH with calling hours from 4:30-6:30pm and a service to follow from 6:30-7:00pm.
