Kenneth was born at his family farm home in Lovell Township, North Dakota. There was a blizzard going on. His parents were Joe and Emma (Hoikkala) Daniels. When he was 3yrs old, his parents bought a farm about a mile away near Hecla, South Dakota. He attended Elementary and High school there. After High School, Ken attended NDSU in Fargo, ND. Majoring in electronic engineering. Ken went on to graduate from Brown Institute, Minneapolis, MN. After graduation, Ken worked for Collins Radio, Cedar Rapids, IA as a Technical writer. Ken married Jane Neufeld of Mountain Lake, MN. The wedding took place during a five-state blizzard, (catch a theme here). Later the couple moved to Hopkins, MN where Ken was employed by Honeywell Ordinance as a quality control engineer. During this time, the Vietnam war heated up and Ken enlisted in the US Air Force. He was at Takhli Royal Thai AFB working as an aircraft electrician on F-105 fighter bombers. There, he earned the Vietnam service medal and Vietnam Campaign medals. After Vietnam, Ken went to Beale AFB, Marysville, CA, to work on the SR-71 (BlackBird). Their first son, Christopher, was born there. Ken was promoted to S/SGT (E5). After Ken's discharge, he attended NDSU again and was employed by KXJB-TV, Fargo, then they moved to Madison, WI where Ken was employed by WHA-TV, the PBS Station of the University of WI. Sonja, Jennifer and Erikki were born during this time. After 9 years, they moved to Blaine, MN. Ken worked at Hubbard Broadcasting as a remote engineering supervisor and later as VP of engineering for Computer Video Productions, Todd Communications and retired from Dascom Systems Group. Ken and Jane enjoyed four trips to Finland and a great cruise in Europe, researching family history, one of Ken's hobbies. He also enjoyed playing softball on both the neighborhood and church teams, golfing with friends. It was Ken's honor to serve on the Salolampi Foundation for more than 30 years. Ken is survived by his wife, Jane, sons, Christopher (Renee) & Erikki (Tricia); daughters, Sonja Schuneman (Dave) and Jennifer Roe (Matt); three grandchildren, Serena, Hazel, Soren. Also, many nieces and nephews. Preceded in Death by his parents, Joe and Emma (Hoikkala) Daniels; and all siblings, Blanche Williams, Ernest, John, Marie Stadler, Martha Ware, Nina Heinemann, Mae LeCornu. Memorials to Daniels Scholarship Fund, Salolampi Foundation, P.O. Box 14480 Minneapolis, MN 55414-0480. Services will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH (641 89th Ave NE, Blaine, MN) on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 2 PM with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be private at Ft Snelling.
