Kenneth Coy Brumelle, age 76, passed away Tuesday June 22, 2021 after a lengthy battle with
cancer. Ken was born March 18, 1945 in Odessa, Texas to Lee and Leota Brumelle.
He attended Odessa High School and in 1968, earned a bachelor's degree in business from Texas
Tech University. Ken met Sharon, his future bride, at TTU and they were married December 21,
1967. They settled in Odessa and daughter, Jenni, was born in 1977.
Ken served in the National Guard in Texas for 8 years. He owned Ladybug Fashions from 1978 until 2000 and
then founded Checks, a check collection company, where he served as Vice President until his
retirement. Ken was a Mason and was actively involved with his church. He was an avid Red
Raider fan, loved dogs and spoiling his grandson.
With currency tacked to his office wall, friends and employees would likely tell you never to bet
against Ken when he held out his hand and said, "put your money where your mouth is." He
gleefully took a 5 dollar bill from his daughter a few weeks back with a triumphant grin.
Gregarious and generous, Ken would always attempt to be the first to reach for the bill at a
restaurant and had a chuckle and handshake ready to greet friends new and old.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents as well as beloved older brother Shelby Brumelle.
Ken is survived by Sharon, his wife of 53 years; daughter Jenni Brumelle-Vu of Lubbock, TX;
son-in-law Huan Vu and grandson Caius Vu both of Lubbock, TX; twin brother Kendell
Brumelle of Littleton, CO and numerous extended family and friends.
Family, friends and others whose lives Ken touched are invited to the graveside service at
Sunset Memorial Gardens Saturday, June 26 at 9am.
