Kenneth August Sunderman, 74, of Wauseon, Ohio passed away in his home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 4, 2023. He was born in Findlay, Ohio on March 21, 1948, to Eddie and Eltha (Hoops) Sunderman. On December 8, 1973, he married Marilyn Kay Schuette at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Wauseon.
Ken was a 1966 graduate of Deshler High School and served his country during the Vietnam War in the 11th Armored Cavalry Black Horse Regiment of the US Army. Ken was a member of the Wauseon VFW Post 7424, where he was the current Quarter Master, and a member of the Wauseon American Legion Post 265. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where he served as a past Deacon. Ken was an avid high school basketball fan and would travel all over to catch as many games as he could. He followed The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Indians. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and friends.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marilyn; daughters, Nicole (Rich) Young and Dana (Hugo) Barajas; grandchildren, Sofia, Tristan, Faith, Alex, Dominic, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Logan, and Mia; siblings, David (Pam) Sunderman, and Richard (Julie) Sunderman; and former son-in-law, Sean Stinner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Sunderman.
Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM with an hour of visitation prior to services. Services will be livestreamed from the church at www. https://www.stpaulnapoleon.org
Interment will follow at St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Wauseon, with military honors accorded by the Fulton County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Promedica Hospice, or the Wauseon Athletic Boosters.
