Ken Arnold Odgers, 77, beloved husband of Florene Gasparian Odgers, departed this life, Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Odgers was born the son of T-Sgt. Frank Odgers and Doris Arnold Odgers-Downs on January 18, 1945 in Brownwood, TX. He received his Master's in Education from Fairleigh Dickinson in Madison, NJ and was a retired Music Instrumental Teacher and Band Director for the Sussex County School District in New Jersey. He was a member of the Bugles Across America performing "Taps" for Military Services in many places. He was a member of The Franklin Band, Inc. of New Jersey - Concert and Marching Band - in which he served for 45 years including 20 years as the Band Director. After moving to Georgetown, SC, he has faithfully served in the Pawleys Island Concert Bands and the Georgetown Theatre Orchestra. As a gifted and skillful performer, Ken has given countless music lovers moments of solace through the power of music and his legacy will continue for generations because of his influence and training upon the lives of his many students.
Ken and Florene were married on March 31, 2004 and celebrated 18 years together. Their family was blessed with: two children, Carrie Odgers Lax (Jon) and Holly Odgers; and four grandchildren, Jackson Zabransky, Aubrey Jane, Logan Szoke and Theo Jackson "TJ" Norelli. He is also survived by: his siblings, Linda Bednarski (Michael) and Eric Downs.
He was predeceased by: his father, Frank Odgers; his mother and stepfather, Doris and Ralph Downs.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
