Mrs. Kelly H. Blau of Pittsfield, passed away on Tuesday October 4th, 2022 just 4 days shy of her 81st birthday. Born in Kinston, NC, on October 8th 1941, the daughter of the late Lovit and Ada Smith Hines, she graduated from Rochefort (France) American High School.
Kelly's family was of utmost importance to her. She grew up an Army brat, extremely proud of her father's military service. After meeting her husband Andrew, while he was in service, in France, they were married in California and later moved to New England and settled in Pittsfield where they raised 3 children. Kelly loved and cherished her granddaughters and never gave up an opportunity to spend as much time as she could with them.
Among many things, Kelly enjoyed reading mystery novels, and was even a published author of short mystery stories. She was an accomplished needle worker and miniaturist. Kelly loved the ocean and would never turn down the opportunity for a trip to the beach.
An active member of society, Kelly was a member of the Junior League for many years, she spent over 10 years organizing the Festival of Trees for the Berkshire Museum and also gladly devoted over 20 years to Ventfort Hall in Lenox where she worked as a volunteer, docent, and president of the board.
Kelly was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Andrew James Blau whom she met in Captieux France, and married on June 24, 1960. Andrew passed away on December 31, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie Buonopane, of California, Eric Blau, of Florida, and Christopher Blau (Catherine) of Pittsfield, as well as her beloved granddaughters, Samantha and Allison Blau. She leaves behind her siblings, Lovit Hines (Margaret) of Seattle Washington, Daria Gold (Bruce) of Arizona and her brother-in-law Peter England Blau and Bev Wolov of Bethesda, MD. Kelly is also survived by her lifelong best friend Victile Donahue of Pittsfield.
