Keith Overvold 90 of Clearwater, Florida died peacefully on January 13th, 2021 at Tampa General Hospital. Keith was born in Watertown, South Dakota on September 9th, 1930 to Clifford and Lilly (Reinecke) Overvold.
Keith went through the 9th grade in public schools in Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN. He attended grades 10-12 at the Minnesota Braille and Sight Saving School in Faribault, MN and graduated as valedictorian. Keith attended Concordia College-Moorhead from 1948-1952 and graduated with a double major in music and economics and a minor in sociology. While there he played trombone in the first Brass Choir at Concordia.
After graduation he set out to make his way as a musician, first as staff organist at KVOX radio in Moorhead and then KFGO. Keith was also appearing regularly at various establishments in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
In 1956 Keith opened a branch of Overvold Motors at a service station at the corner of Main Avenue and 16th Street in Moorhead. In 1966 the Overvold's merged into one dealership at a new location on South University Drive in Fargo.
Keith was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church-Moorhead and many service organizations. In 1970 Keith was honored with the 'Handicapped Minnesotan of the Year' and in 1972 he received the 'Rose and Jay Phillips' award for inspiration provided to others through achieving self-sufficiency and independence. It was the calliope that drew Keith to the Shrine in 1965 and he played in many parades throughout the midwest.
Music was always an important part of Keith's life and he loved playing his theatre organ. The importance of family was a priority and he enjoyed spending time with them, fishing and playing cards.
Keith and his wife Kathie have resided in Clearwater, Florida since 1984 and enjoyed their cabin on Lake Lida in Minnesota during the summer months.
Keith is survived by his wife Kathie, two children Kaye (Jim) Marudas of Safety Harbor, FL, Clifford Overvold of Detroit Lakes, MN, six grandchildren Bryan (Britney) Marudas, Cory (LeAnn) Marudas, Amanda (Tom) Robbins, Laura (Taylor) Minelli, Adam Overvold, Zachary Overvold, 10 great grandchildren, 1 sibling Roberta Overvold and many nieces and nephews.
