Kathy McLester Haynes of Knoxville, Tennessee, and formerly of Concord, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home at sunrise on July 25, 2021 with her family by her side. Kathy graduated from Concord High School in the class of 1977 and subsequently from Central Piedmont Community College.
She enjoyed a 30-yr career in professional office management before retiring early to spend more time with her husband, travel the world, and enjoy the companionship of her beloved dogs. When at home Kathy thrived on the challenge of training and competing with her Westies in agility trials and tracking, accumulating a series of titles with them. Away from home, she enjoyed experiencing international culture and, above all, nature-nature-nature, rolling shoulder-to-shoulder with lions in Africa, trekking glaciers in New Zealand, and waking for sunrises that don't set at Nordkapp - that's Kathy! She's been an inspiration for many with whom she has shared her eleven-year journey with cancer and will be sorely missed.
Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Donald Lee McLester Sr.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 38 years, Tony Haynes; mother, Judy McLester of Concord, NC; and brother, Donald McLester Jr. of Charleston, South Carolina. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to two of her favorite charities- Susan G. Komen Foundation, www.komen.org and Westie Rescue of Tennessee, www.westierescueoftn.com
