Kathryn Paps Govas left this world on Thursday, June 2, 2022. Born in Chicago to Georgia and Costis Paps on February 24, 1954, and raised in Evanston, Kathy is best known as a beloved friend and hostess in the communities where she and her husband Jim created and operated restaurants together - Noyes Street Cafe in Evanston, Metropolitan Cafe in Highland Park and, most recently, The Grille on Laurel in Lake Forest. Her outgoing and engaging personality, legendary sense of style and design, generous spirit, and her warmth toward all she touched, lit the hearts of many and was a precious part of the lives of her immediate family - her beloved late mother, Georgia Paps, her husband and partner in life Jim Govas, her sister Joanna Rolek, nieces Kristen and Stefanie Rolek, and her nephew Brandon Rolek and his family, wife Brooke and children Bobby and Bayly. Her life and legacy will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 7 at Ascension of Our Lord Greek Orthodox Church, 1207 Riverwoods Road in Lincolnshire. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 until the 10:30 funeral service. Interment Lake Forest Cemetery.
