Kathryn Ely O'Brien of Indianapolis, IN passed away at 95yrs with family members by her side on January 10th, 2021. A Requiem Mass Service will be held February 5th at St. Luke's Catholic Church, at 1:00pm 7575 Holliday Dr. E., Indianapolis, IN.
She was born September 16, 1925 in Jeannette, PA to John Mack Ely and Alice (Weyman) Ely. She graduated from Shortridge HS of Indianapolis in 1943 and was the president of S.K.I.D., and a Shorty Club member. She attended University of Arizona and was a Kappa Alpha Theta sorority member.
In 1952 she married Thomas A. O'Brien, Jr. of Phoenix AZ. Her professional life was spent as a secretary and the co-owner of Dental Medical Management, with her husband. She could always be found sitting in the second row of St. Luke's. She loved watching the Colts! She also enjoyed playing bridge, doing newspaper crossword puzzles, and a good game of rummy! She never missed 5'oclock cocktails and everyone was welcome to join her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tom in 1991 after 36 years of marriage, her parents, beloved brother John W. Ely and her sister Patricia Ely Getz.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her survivors; three children: Patricia O'Brien (William Kincaid), Thomas O'Brien, III, Peggy Apter (Gary); seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She leaves behind many additional nieces, nephews, and friends that were also family!
