I left this world for a better one on Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. I was 71 years old and I fought cancer since 2014. I will meet up with my sister, Nancy Rickert (Wolski) and my parents, Leonard and Florence Wolski (Szmania). I will miss my wonderful and thoughtful husband, James and my two dear sons, Mark J. and his wife Ann and Adam D. and his wife Meghan. My phenomenal grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Rosalinda and Matthew. My dear nieces Naomi and her husband Curtis and Tonya and all of their children. Plus many many friends and relatives.
Ever since the 3rd grade I always wanted to be a teacher. I was a lifelong learner. I received my B.S. degree in 1969 and my M.S. degree in 1972 from UWM. I have taught for 41 years at various schools and finally retiring from Muskego Elementary School in 2010. I always taught pre-schoolers to second graders. I loved children. Besides my professional career I did a lot of volunteering. So much so that Milwaukee County named us as family of the year in 1988. I was a board member of Thomas More High School and ran their auction and received the Chancellor's Award. I was a member of St. Rita West Allis school board for a number of years and was involved in many activities. I was also an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church where I met lifelong friends. I also gave my time as a docent at the Pabst Mansion and that was really fun. For a few years I helped rebuild New Orleans after Katrina. My interests included genealogy, my Polish Heritage and sewing. I enjoyed camping, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, biking, hiking (Wisconsin Go Hiking), flower and vegetable gardening and many other outdoor activities. Most recently, I was a volunteer teacher naturalist at Wehr Nature Center and I really enjoyed being there and teaching and learning from the children and staff. Please don't send flowers. Rather, send a donation in my name to Friends of Wehr Nature Center, Inc., 9701 W. College Ave., Franklin, WI 53132.
A Celebration of my Life will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 3722 S. 58th St., Milwaukee, WI on Friday, Oct. 19th with a get together from 10 AM to 12:15 PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 12:30 PM.
