Kathleen Kirkner Wien, age 96, of Alpharetta, GA passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022.
Kathleen was born in Mendham, NJ on May 27, 1925.
After graduating from high school in Morris county, she worked for many years at Morristown Memorial hospital where both her sons were born.
After years moving & living around New England and the Midwest, she returned to northwestern New Jersey to the small town of Hackettstown. She worked for both Bates Manufacturing, then M&M Mars candy company, from where she retired in 1990.
After retirement she moved south to Winston-Salem, NC to be closer to her youngest son's growing family, her grandchildren, where she lived before relocating to Alpharetta in 1997.
She was a member of Alpharetta Presbyterian Church and participated in numerous civic and senior organizations.
She loved cooking/baking, flowers/gardening, birdwatching, baseball & the Atlanta Braves and nature - "the great outdoors", especially hiking, camping and skiing when younger. She loved the mountains including state and national parks across America.
Kathleen is survived by her two sons, Kurt D. Wien and James F. Wien; and three grandsons who she adored and was so proud of, Joshua, Hanz Erik, and Kent Wien.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00am at Alpharetta Presbyterian Church.
