Kathleen George, age 75, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Jane Dziordz of New Bedford, MA. She is survived by her husband Brian Richer and brother, Fr. Walter M. Dziordz, MIC, of the Congregation of Marians in Stockbridge, MA.
Kathleen graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help elementary school, Normandin middle school, and New Bedford High School. After graduation, she worked for the New Bedford Chamber of Commerce for many years, gaining experience before moving to Boston. Kathleen also worked for the Boston Chamber, the New England Governor's Council, and many high-profile elected officials. After departing the chamber, she moved to Honolulu for several years, where the insurance carrier for Hawaii 50 and Magnum PI TV shows employed her as an insurance liaison. Kathleen played a part as a tennis player on the court in Magnum PI, in one show, along with other actors. After returning to Boston, Kathleen completed her education and earned several Master's degrees. After completing her PhD. in Clinical Psychology, she operated a practice for many years and a lifetime member of Psi Chi.
She was a member of the Berkshire Health System, Ethics Committee, Thursday Morning Club, and St. Peter's Choir member. Kathleen volunteered over 800 hours in five years of pastoral care at Fairview Hospital. She was visible weekly, primarily when providing ashes on Ash Wednesday to the staff and patients. Kathleen was known by her friends to be a very sweet lady.
Kathleen received exceptional compassion and exemplary medical care at Berkshire Medical Center; thank you to all who participated in making her comfortable throughout her treatment.
Her many friends and family greatly loved her for her kindness, compassionate touch, and calm words. Kathleen's wildlife visitors always knew a free snack was available at the bird feeder.
Visiting hours are 8:30am to 9:30am on September 30th, at Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St, Great Barrington, MA 01230 followed by 10am funeral mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 213 Main St., Gt. Barrington, MA 01230. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.
