Kathleen Capes Hooper passed away Friday, October 21, 2022. Kathleen was born on March 17, 1920 in Covington, Ga to the late Jeff and Mamie Capes. She was number seven of eleven children. Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband WL Hooper JR. whom she married in 1942 and her siblings; John Zack, JC, Oliver, Hulon, Sam, Emory, Maggie, Louise, Sara, and Peggy. As a child, Kathleen lived just down the Wehunt Road and then moved to Oak Hill Road. After she married WL, they moved to Porterdale where she was hired by Bibb Manufacturing to play basketball and work in the PayMaster office. Kathleen joined Bethany Presbyterian Church in 1943 where she assisted with the nursery, Bible School, treasury, and was the secretary. She was active in the choir, Bethany Women's Club, and Bethany Fun seekers. Kathleen was a member of the West Newton Club, Porterdale Women's Club, and the American Legion. She was also a VFW Volunteer at the Newton County Food Bank. Kathleen loved to travel and enjoyed growing plants and flowers. But most of all, she loved to visit with her family and friends and she never met a stranger. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lawson Hooper (Joanne) of Covington, Ga; two grandchildren and their spouses, Suzanne Hooper Cauthorn (Will) of Marietta, Ga and William Lawson Hooper, IV (Anna) of Macon, Ga; and Five great grandchildren, Lawson and Ellie Hooper of Macon, Ga and Carter, Thomas, and Mary Kathleen Cauthorn of Marietta, Ga. Funeral Services will held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2pm at Bethany Presbyterian Church 1002 Bethany Rd., Covington, Ga 30016 with Ronnie Capes officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm-2pm at Bethany.
