Katherine Rita Moran Foley, forever young, departed this earth peacefully and with dignity on November 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was a woman of great integrity and undeniable style. Known as Kaye, she knew how to light up a room with her bright smile and gracious presence. Born and raised in Chester to Edward and Elizabeth (Ford) Moran, she was one of seven children born to Irish immigrants. Moving to Hartford right after graduating from Chester High School, she met the love of her life, Raymond. Married in 1950, they made Cromwell their home and raised their five children with love and laughter. She loved her years as a stay-at-home mom prior to venturing out into the work force. Working first as the Assistant Town Clerk in Cromwell then at the Middletown Press where she worked for many years. After leaving that position, she took a position at Middlesex Memorial Hospital, where she also joined the Middlesex Hospital Vocal Chords singing group. After retirement she volunteered for the Middlesex Health Hospice Program for over 25 years. Kaye and Ray maintained a very active life; they loved traveling the world, attending local town dances and hosting cocktail parties at their home on Winthrop Blvd. They attended Mass at St. John Church, along with all 5 children every Sunday, which would lead to Sunday dinners at home, a tradition that would continue for many years. Kaye was an avid antique collector who loved going to auctions, flea markets and antique shows, passing that enthusiasm on to her children. Her many hobbies included knitting, needle point and painting. Her most loved passion was decorating her lovely home in Cromwell and her summer cottage at Chalker Beach in Old Saybrook. What brought her the most joy was her role as mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Ray and her 6 siblings. She leaves behind her five children; Michael and his wife Jane of Higganum and their children Caitlin, Colleen and Brian; Kevin and his wife Colleen of East Haddam; James and his partner Cliff Holt of Middletown; Kathy Bremer and her husband Mark of Middletown and their children Connor, Garrett and Griffin, and Kellyanne Foley of Middletown and her children Madison, Paxton and Burns. She also leaves behind 8 adoring great grandchildren. Family was everything to Kaye and she will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank Kaye's longtime friend and confidant Kim Emmons, as well as her niece Beth Abbey for their love and devotion. A special thanks to the care givers at The Village at South Farms for their care and compassion. Her life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday November 9 at 10:00am at St. John Church, 5 St John Court in Cromwell. Friends and family may call at Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street Cromwell November 9, 8:00am-9:30am. She will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery. Donations in Kaye's memory may be made to Middlesex Health Hospice Program, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
