Karl Konieczny, 93, of River Dr. North Hadley, passed away peacefully at his home on March 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on the family farm in N. Hadley on August 8, 1927 to the late Joseph and Mary (Rup) Konieczny.
A graduate of Hopkins Academy, Karl began his career on the family farm. In the 1940's he purchased his first Tractor Mounted Hydraulic Backhoe, and with this machine he added sitework to the farm business. In the years to come, he purchased more equipment and Karl's Excavating and Site Work was established. To this day, the company he built continues to flourish, all based on Karl's hard work and ethics.
Karl was a member of the Hadley Lions Club, the Hadley Men's Supper Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was a communicant of Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Anne (Bracci) Konieczny; his children David and his wife Mary of Freemont NH, Linda (Konieczny) McDonough and her husband Paul of Hadley, and Alan and his wife Jo-Ann (Hirschel) of Hadley; his grandchildren Mark McDonough of N. Carolina, Kevin McDonough and his wife Yevi of Easthampton, Joseph Konieczny of Toronto, Canada, William Konieczny and Maria Konieczny of Hadley; his great-grandchild Noah McDonough; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Karl was predeceased by his siblings Joseph, Edward, Raymond, Chester, Leon, Gertrude Dzenis, Josephine King and Stacia Frenier.
The family would like to thank Cooley Dickinson Visiting Nurse and Hospice for the wonderful care Karl received.
