Karen Phipps

Karen Kay (Detillion) Phipps passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family January 3rd 2025. Karen was born Sept. 9, 1950 to the late John and Bessie Detillion. She was preceded in death by two infant siblings, her brothers Delbert Detillion, Don Detillion, Gene (Tink) Detillion, Damon Detillion, Grover Detillion; Sisters Juanita France, Avanel Rumfield, and Velma Holsinger, Karen is survived by her husband Ronald M. Phipps and son Brian (Erin) Phipps. Two granddaughters, Olivia Stephens and Carter Stephens. Also, several nieces and nephews that she mothered over the years. Karen was a devout Christian and member of Givens Chapel Church. She worked hard to minister to others about the gift of heaven. And also kept all the church kids in candy. Countless Bible school summers, scheduling gospel singers, Sunday school teacher and organizing food baskets were just a few responsibilities she took pride doing. Karen didn't know a stranger. She loved selling Avon, home interior and longaberger baskets. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She'd hire wrappers to keep up with all the hundreds of gifts because she didn't want to leave anyone out. Those close to her know she was a best friend to so many. If Karen Phipps was praying for you, rest assured that God was listening. Karen had a way of making everyone feel special, and when her love touched you there was no denying its warmth. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday January 9, 2025 at the Givens Chapel Church located on Germany Rd. with Pastor Jerry Mullins and Jimmy Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Givens Chapel Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 5-8:00 P.M. Wednesday January 8, 2025 at the church and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday.
