Karen Lee Gaul
Karen Lee Gaul passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, April 25, 2019, after battling years of both dementia and leukemia.
Karen was a great mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was born August 16, 1939 in Freeport, Illinois to father Harvey Kneiss and mother Esther Kneiss (Heefner). Karen received her GED from Shannon High School and went on to attend Highland Community College. She and Wayne Gaul were married for more than 30 years. Karen worked faithfully and diligently as a farmer’s wife for many years, and worked retail positions in both Illinois and Texas, where she’s lived since 2001. Karen always found joy in life’s little gifts, like soft blankets, beautiful paintings, and sunshine. She is survived by Wayne Gaul, sons Rick Gaul and Randy Gaul, sisters Janet Schofield and Phyllis Likens, and several grandchildren, including Andrea and Aaron Gaul, and Amanda Leal and Lauren Gaul.
