Karen "Kay" Dorman 77, of Slaton, departed this earthly world and entered heaven's gates on Monday October 11, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at Bartley Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 15, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Bartley Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
Kay was born to Carl and Clarice King on May 31, 1943, in Tuila, Texas. She was the youngest girl of nine children. She was raised in Plainview and attended schools at PISD. Kay married Odis Everett Dorman on August 19, 1961. Kay spent her life raising her children, working for her husband business, and taking care other people's children.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and dear friend.
Those left to cherish Kay's memory is her two daughters; Kim Neatherlin of Slaton and Kristy Hutchins and her husband, Clay, of McKinney, five grandchildren; Joshua Warner, Lonzo Matthew Neatherlin and wife, Sarah Neatherlin, Kyle Neatherlin, Brett Hutchins and granddaughter in law Kayla Hutchins, and Jake Hutchins and 5 great grandchildren Mat Neatherlin, Benjamin Neatherlin, Nicholas Neatherlin, and Ashley, Bralea, Abrey Neatherlin along with her brothers; James King of Tucson, Ariz., Charles King of Plainview and Dale King of Burleson; and one sister Retha Thetford of Alvarado and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Odis Everett Dorman, her brothers Weldon King, D.T. King, and her sisters Norma Chaney and Leia Trussell. Also, two grandchildren Jessica Warner and Christopher Neatherlin.
