Brownsville, Texas - Justo Barrientes, Jr. 89, of Brownsville, gained his angel wings on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Justo was born in Port Isabel, Texas, the son of the late Consuelo "Snookie" Aguilar and Justo Barrientes Sr. He was a resident of Brownsville for numerous years. Justo together with his father, owned and operated the Downtown Oyster Bar and La Jaiba on South Padre Island. Justo graduated from Saint Joseph Academy where he played football and was a band member. He married Emma Kingsbury on January 11, 1953 at St Tomas Church in Brownsville. Justo was an active member of our community. He served on numerous Boards and Civic Organizations such as: Alhambra, Brownsville Boys Club, Coach for the West Brownsville Little League, First Bank Sunrise, and the St. Joseph Academy Alumni Assoc. Justo was very proud of being a part of "Team La Jaiba" which won First Place at the 1st Annual Gumbo Cook-off on South Padre Island. Justo was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Preceeding Justo in death were his parents, Consuelo and Justo Barrientes Sr.; his son, Henry Barrientes; and a brother, Antonio "Tony" Barrientes. Justo is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Emma K. Barrientes; his children: Diana B. (Carlos David+) Cisneros, Sylvia Barrientes (Dennis Charles) White, and David Barrientes; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren with 2 more expected this summer; 2 sisters: Mary Lou (Henry) Gonzalez and Margarita Barrientes; a sister-in-law, Lucille Barrientes along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, the 8th of June 2022 between the hours of four o'clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Wednesday evening at Darling-Mouser.The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Thursday, the 9th of June 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1944 Barnard Rd. Brownsville, TX 78520. Entombment will then follow via an escorted procession, in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.Honored to be serving as Justo's pallbearers are: David Barrientes, Carlos David Cisneros Jr., Henry Barrientes II, Dennis Charles White, Sheldon Forrest White, Justin Robert White, and Brandon Lee White. Honorary pallbearers will be: Johnny Barrientez, Bobby Duffey, Harris Falgout, Neil Hannon, Ezequiel "Zeke" Silva, Renato Cardenas+, Johnny N.
