June Thorne
How do you know June? Please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
June Marie (Myrick) Thorne went home to be with her Lord and savior on March 5, at the age of 93. She grew up with her seven siblings in Monroe Washington, where she later met her husband Wayne Thorne. They were married in 1948 and moved to Machias in 1953 where they raised their children Michael and Julie. Together they ran The Used Furniture Mart in Monroe for many years until it was destroyed in a fire in 1993.
June was a devoted Christian and an active member of Machias Community Church since 1958. After Wayne's passing in 1998, June lived independently in her Machias home until the age of 91. In 2020 she came to live with her daughter in Marysville.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Thorne, son, Michael Thorne, and grandbabies, Gayle and B.J. Raney. She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Joe) Raney, sister Peggy Kendall, grandchildren Kacie Raney, Angie (Jon) Bell, Cody Thorne, Chad Raney, great grandchildren Remington and Sullivan Bell, longtime friend, Georgina (Iris) Bayley, nieces and nephews and her beloved Machias Church Family.
June, affectionately known in her family as Junebug, was loved by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her fondness of games (especially card games), her mischievous sense of humor, her famous macaroni and cheese, her beautiful dahlia garden, her stubborn independence and her deep love of God and family. We are so grateful for all the years of memories made with this wonderful woman. She will be greatly missed.
