June Defoor, age 83, of Electra, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021, in Electra.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra with Roger Sanford, Pastor of Electra Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at Aulds Funeral Home.
June was born December 27, 1937 in Los Angeles, California to the late Freddie Lee Akin and Viola Leavella Defoor Tribble.
She married Cody Yates on October 9, 1954 in Odessa, Texas and together they had three children, Belinda, Sondra and Trent. He preceded her in death in 2004.
June retired from Texaco as a Lab Technician after nineteen years. She then went to work as a surgical tech in Labor and Delivery at the Wichita General Hospital for nine years until her retirement.
She was an avid reader, painter and seamstress. June's talents as a seamstress were nearly unmatched. She and her husband loved square dancing and many times she would decide they needed new outfits for that night's dance and make them in just a day. While living in Odessa, June participated in the local theater. She was a history buff, especially for Egyptian History, and an amateur geologist.
Survivors include two daughters, Belinda Gayler of Electra, and Sondra Walker and husband, Billy of Abilene; one son, Trent Yates and wife, Melissa of Odessa; one sister, Betty Grant of Electra; one brother, Gary Wayne Tribble and wife, Linda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Shawnda Chester and husband, Kenneth, Brandie Carney and husband, Mike, Christi Chester Schroeder, Joshua Chester and wife, Jackie, Barrett Yates, and Branson Yates; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Shawn Peacock.
