Juliette Caroline Lopez, age 82, went peacefully to be with our Lord in her home surrounded by her family on January 1, 2021. She was born on July 15, 1938 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Lorenzo and Guadalupe Baca. Juliette married her high school sweetheart, Herman Reynold Lopez, on February 13, 1960. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Juliette was employed by the Briggs School District for 35 years, advancing to Executive Assistant to the Superintendent. The education of young students was a passion that she took great pride in and mentoring her young co-workers, passing on her life lessons to help them reach their professional goals. Fluent in two languages, Spanish and English, she truly enjoyed making a difference and helping parents with the education of their children.
Juliette loved her grandchildren, she enjoyed crocheting, and loved to dance. She was passionately dedicated to her family and would often be found sitting at the kitchen table helping her grandchildren with their homework. Juliette had an interest in learning new technology and sharing her knowledge with her grandchildren. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling with her family, especially cross-country to help settle grandchildren in college. She was an excellent cook and always had enough food for everybody. You never left her house hungry. Family traditions were important to Juliette, which she passed onto her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A family tradition that she cherished was making biscochitos for every family event, holiday, and every road trip. One of her favorite things to do was to decorate for the changing seasons. The holidays spent with her were enchanting and nothing short of pure magic. Juliette rarely sat still, she was always busy doing for others.
Juliette is survived by her husband, Herman Reynold Lopez, Sr. and their children Herman Reynold Lopez, Jr. and his wife, Stacey; Annette Engelhart and her husband Nicolaas Sr.; and Juliette Marquez. Welcoming her into heaven is her youngest daughter, Lucinda Kizer. She is also survived by her grandchildren April Sam and her husband Samford; Alexandrio Marquez; Ashley Kizer; Elizabeth Everett and her husband James; Joshua Marquez and his wife Jessica; Alexandra Lopez and her husband Vince; John-Reynold Lopez; Juliette Elisa Marquez; and Nicolaas Engelhart Jr.; and her great-grandchildren Owen Sam, Brandon Marquez and Bennett Marquez. Survivors also include her siblings Viola Ekstrom; Fermin Baca and his wife Verna; Louise Olson and her husband John; and her sister-in-law Eleanor Baca, and many beloved nephews, nieces and extended family. Juliette was preceded in death by her brothers Everett Baca and Gene Baca.
If she touched you, you knew her love and she had a lot of love to give.
