Juliet Pentreath Latham Nussman, 54, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022. Born on December 11, 1967 in Athens, Georgia, to Aurielia Wise and Robert Spalding Latham, Jr., Julie had a beautiful childhood in Greenville, SC. As the first-born child and only girl in her family, she was loved and cherished throughout her life by her mother and father.
At an early age, she displayed a strong will and independence that marked her distinctive personality. Her two younger brothers looked up to her and were always proud to follow in her footsteps. She attended Lake Forest Elementary, League Middle, and Wade Hampton High School where she graduated with the class of 1986. In the summers she spent her time at Wellington Green pool where she excelled at swimming, especially the butterfly stroke. Julie was always the center of fun and laughter and was a devoted friend to so many classmates and neighbors. She developed lasting bonds and friendships that she cherished throughout her life.
She continued her education at Winthrop University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1992. There she met her loving husband, Roger, whom she married in 1993. She worked as a paralegal at Haynesworth, Baldwin, Johnson, and Greaves in Greenville, South Carolina for six years and in their Charlotte, North Carolina office for five years before starting her family.
Julie was a fun-loving, caring, and attentive daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to all who knew her, keeping in touch with people from all parts of her life throughout her life. Julie was a bright light whose warm smile and genuine interest in others attracted many friends. Julie took great pride in creating a beautiful and loving home for her family where she enjoyed gardening, decorating, and cooking for those she loved. Anyone who knew Julie knew the great love she had for her family. She loved nothing more than spending time with them whether it be at the lake, her family's farm, the mountains, or an NC State or Appalachian State football game.
Of her greatest loves were her three children, Emma, Banks, and late daughter, Aurie. Julie was an extraordinary mother who dedicated her life to nurturing her children and took great joy in being a part of each and every aspect of their lives as they grew into successful, independent young adults. Most notably, she loved volunteering for and being a part of the Providence High School marching band community with her children. She encouraged their love of music, and it brought her great joy to attend football games where Emma and Banks performed. As they advanced to college, Julie and Roger continued to prioritize time with their children at their respective universities.
In times of need, Julie was always there to support her family. In 2018, Julie was a constant companion to her sister-in-law, Kay, during the final months of her life. In 2019, when her Mother was recovering from serious surgery, Julie was by her side for months helping to restore her health. She cared for others selflessly and helped all that needed her. She will be remembered as a shining light who brought joy, happiness, and love to her family and friends.
Julie is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Aurelia Latham Nussman; grandparents, Robert Spalding and Doris Thomas Latham and Andrew Edward and Aurelia Slattery Wise; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert Thomas and Edward O'Shields Nussman; sister-in-law, Kay Moore Nussman; and cousin, Patrick Kimmell Walworth.
